Introduction to the Bioclear Method: Modern Composite Resin Restorations

Direct composite restorations are one of the most commonly performed procedures in many general dental practices. Despite the frequency of the procedure, direct composite restorations can be very challenging and the outcomes are often less than dental professionals expect or patients desire. This lecture is based upon the most recent advances in techniques, The Bioclear Method, stemming from the application of sound engineering principles to composite restorations which promise to dramatically improve their short and long term success.  The lecture will include:

· The five principles of the Bioclear Method

· Biofilm removal

· Engineered preparation design

· Anatomically shaped, clear mylar matrices

· Warm injection molding

· Rock Star Polish

· The range of procedures which can be accomplished

· Where doctors can get more information and training

Speaker:

Mark Konings received training as a chemist with a B.S. with honors from Calvin College, a Ph.D. from the UW-Madison, postdoctoral appointments at the UC-Berkeley and an MBA from U-MN. Mark began working for 3M Oral Care in 1990 as a developer of prosthodontic products. In addition to R&D, Mark has held positions in marketing and sales and is currently a global business manager for 3M. He has been working with Bioclear for eight years and helped found the Bioclear Learning Center where he is an adjunct faculty member.
